What we do
In recent years, the concept of inclusive education has been gradually spreading in China. However its introduction into the Chinese education system is hindered due to the lack of experiences or specialized knowledge of teachers. Under such circumstances, JICE conducted this program in 2019 based on the request from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education in China, which had concluded a memorandum of friendship and cooperation with JICE. The training program was provided for principals and vice principals of schools for special needs education in Jiangsu Province. The purpose of the program was to improve the ability of educators in Jiangsu Province and promote the construction of the inclusive education system through sharing knowledge and experiences which Japan has accumulated in this field.
This program is consisted of lectures by governments, universities and private organizations, class-room observation at schools, and exchange of opinions with experts and teachers. Participants can learn the history of special needs education in Japan and teacher training system, and discuss with Japanese teachers the outlook of inclusive education and how special needs education should be.
